Dear Yuletide Author
Dear Yuletide Author,
Thank you so much for signing up! Yuletide is a wonderful fest - my first fest, this time last year - and I really appreciate you taking the time to write something for me as part of it. I hope that you enjoy writing for me. I'm not that fussy, I promise, and I know that I'll adore reading what you come up with.
First off, on a general note, my squicks are non-con, abuse of any kind, and extreme angst (of the suicidal kind). I really, really can't read them so I'd appreciate it if you avoided them as much as possible. Apart from that, I'm very much an anything goes kind of person. I don't have any major kinks, but domestic fluff and character introspectives are my favourites.
I like most AUs. I'm not overly fond of gangster or band AUs, and I won't touch high school ones, but if you feel like you need to write an AU for one of these fandoms then go nuts.
Black Death (2010)
What I'd really like to see is some backstory for Wolfstan and Swire and how they ended up with Ulric/what they really think of him. I'd like to know what happened to Ulric's wife and child and how he ended up hunting witches - and how he ended up being comparatively gentle with them (stabbing the woman who was tied to the stake instead of letting her be burned/hunted down again and burnt). And Osmund - maybe in an Ulric lives!AU, I'd like to know what Ulric thinks of the person Osmund becomes.
Carmilla - Sheridan J LeFanu
Carmilla has always struck me as being very quiet, and because of that, I'd love to see something from her point of view. How does she view Laura? Does she feel any guilt over all the women she's killed? What does she think of her lifestyle and powers as a vampire?
Or, if you want, feel free to go completely nuts and write me some vampire!Laura. I'd love to see it.
Havemercy Series - Jaida Jones and Danielle Bennett
Not going to lie, these two are why Shadow Magic is my favourite book in the series. I love how gloriously their personalities contrast while they still work together and play off each other, and I love how Caius is a dangerous, mad little bastard while simultaneously being sweet and camp ad wonderfully flamboyant, and that's basically what I'd like to see. Set post-Shadow Magic, perhaps, with the time they spent working together having changed both of them, or even set during - with them growing closer and closer.
Yes, I see them as a couple, but if it's not up your alley to write them that way, then I'll settle for long-suffering friends.
Dracula Untold (2014)
For this one, I'd love to see something that dealt with Vlad's backstory a bit more, especially if it includes his RL brothers Mircea, Vlad Caluragul and Radu (Mehmed's BFF - just think of the potential drama!). Seriously, though, there was some epic tragedy and melodrama that the movie just skipped over, and I'd love to see it investigated more. If you'd prefer not to touch it, though, then that's fine. I'd like to see some of Vlad's childhood in Turkey; I'd like to see the build-up of the relationship he had with Memed that led to being able to call him 'brother'. I'd like to see Vlad picking up language and customs and then using them, even when he's home and in his own court.
Interview with the Vampire (1994)
Nothing on earth will convince me that Lestat and Louis weren't a couple, and that's something I'd really like to see written. Either a snapshot of their relationship in happier times (Claudia vampire version of the marriage-saving baby!) or a post-movie reconciliation between them. If you'd prefer to write about Armand - who I adore, fyi - I'd love to see how Louis' rejection of him changes his path. Does he try ad make more contact with the living world on his own?
I've not read any of the books outside of Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Armand, though that will change, so feel free to go as AU or spoilery as you like.
If none of those ideas inspire you, then please feel free to take whichever fandom you're writing for and create something beautiful for it. Any fic, for fandoms like these, is awesome.
Thank you again, Yuletide Author,
Evandar
