“…and you were right. Totally right,” Lavender is gushing as they walk together back to their dorm, bags full of Honeydukes chocolate and glittering accessories swinging from their hands. Lavender’s beaming with happiness, her eyes sparkling and her beauty returned. Parvati’s so relieved that she doesn’t mind that she can’t get a word in edgeways.

“I mean, we’re only sixteen. It’s not the end of the world that we broke up – I mean, he was kind of boring.” She wrinkles her nose. “And he wasn’t interested in me at all beyond…” she makes a vague gesture towards her chest that sends them both into a fit of giggles just before they spill into their room.

Granger, sitting on her bed with the Weasley girl, falls suddenly silent. Lavender ignores her, except for the usual roll of her eyes that acknowledges that they are far too unimportant to be privy to the business of one of the ‘Golden Trio’, but she’s still giggling even as she chatters on.

Lavender is back.
