She writes to Lavender all through the summer, about her work in the office and her plans for the future and how she’s going to take the Ministry’s noose of red tape and set fire to it. She phrases it differently – the world is darkening around them, and there are hints at work that things aren’t as they seem. The Dark Lord has sunk his claws in.
Parvati is foreign, but a pureblood. She’s safe. So is Lavender, thankfully, though only just. But she wants to work with Magical Beings (no, she doesn’t have a SPEW badge) and she can only watch and smile blankly from behind her desk as the world crumbles beneath her clients.
She hates it. She hates Voldemort. She can’t say it, so she writes it instead, in the code they came up with in first year, and vows silently to change it. With Lavender. Together.
