Title: Thief
Author: Evandar
Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: G
Genre: Gen
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter and am making no profit from this story.
Summary: Not all of the junk in Grimmauld Place is unwanted.
Author's Notes: This was written for the prompt 'Something Vital is Stolen' on my GenPrompt Bingo table.
Such a waste, he thinks.
Piles of stuff ready to be binned like they don’t even care what it is. Dark, they’ve labelled it, so what does it matter if it’s old and valuable. Hell, he doubts even Sirius knows what half this stuff is or how much it’s worth – he’s not the kind of bloke to have ever needed to worry about that, being a Black.
There’s good silver here. Shave off the embossed crests and that’ll get a pretty knut. Some books that’ll go down a treat in Knockturn – he’s surprised the Weasley harpy hasn’t just burned them – some knickknacks. Cursed objects. A locket.
The locket in particular looks old. It’s heavy too, but its clasp doesn’t work – probably knackered by age. Still, polish it up a bit and there should be a buyer no problem. There’s something about it that just draws you in.
A couple of things, he asks if he can have. Sirius just nods and gives a vague wave of his hand – decent bloke, alright, but daft as anything and no concept of value. But he doesn’t ask for everything, and there’s more than one family heirloom slipped into his pockets on his way out.
