Yay for Thranduil's book!canon cultural preservation! I much prefer that to the epic racism in the movies. And yeah, Elrond's pretty welcoming to everyone bar orcs and goblins and such like. What's more impressive is that Imladris works under his rule, even in a very culturally segregated place like Arda. (I think the only other place we consistently hear of separate races living together in is Bree, although apparently Dwarves, Elves and Men all hang out okay in Dale post-Hobbit I don't think they're all living there permanently; just trading.) They're definitely to be admired, those two <3
