How could she ever replace this? What husband chosen for her could ever replace the feel of her sister in her arms? She doesn’t know what their parents are thinking. No, she can’t lie; she does know. She knows exactly what they’re thinking – that marriages will make their daughters less depraved. That they will fall into their husbands’ arms (or, at least, their manors and their bank vaults) and abandon what they share together. That they, unlike Andromeda, will honour the House of Black.

Narcissa has no doubt that the last is true, but it will be a bitter duty.
