My favourite tropes vary between fandoms, tbh, but one constant is that trope of singular, obsessive love. Whether it takes the form of a Dwarf's One in the Tolkien fandoms or a soulmate AU or a regular person just developing an obsession, I don't care. It's like catnip.
It doesn't have to have be mutual. It doesn't even have to have a happy ending, but I do prefer it not to get physically or sexually abusive. When I was younger, I was very much into twu wuv but now that I'm older, I embrace more of the fucked up side of things. Even in my happy-place-fluff fandoms, I like a disquieting edge to my twu wuv 4eva fics. I want the characters in question to know that they're fucked up over each other, and I want them to not care. Embrace the codependency!
I also like outsider perspectives on that sort of relationship. A long time ago, I wrote an outsider-perspective Wincest fic that remains one of my favourite fics that I've ever written because it's basically this trope to a ridiculous degree.

I usually gravitate towards pairings that involve characters that are enemies in canon, which this trope works really well with. I also like it with incest pairings like Wincest or Thorki, so definitely any pairing that has a darker slant to it.

One of the reviewers for that fic pointed out that the most unrealistic part of the canon dynamic is that they're too well adjusted for people who had that kind of childhood, which. I still think about that review every time I dip my toes back into Supernatural fandom.
