femslash100's Drabbletag5.
The wind howls outside her room, and she knows that Cissy is coming. She shifts in her bed to make space, and settles on her pillows, watching the movement of tree branches through the curtain. She hears shuffling feet in the corridor, and the creak of the door as it opens, but she doesn’t move until candle light spills over her face.
Cissy’s eyes are wide, and even illuminated in brilliant gold as she is, her fear has turned her pale.
“Come to bed,” Bella tells her, and lifts the covers. “We’ll leave the candle lit.”
Cissy places it carefully on the nightstand before diving under the blankets to press against Bella’s side. She cuddles close, pillows her head on Bella’s growing breast, and wraps her arms tight around Bella’s waist. She’s asleep in seconds.
Bella stays awake, threading her fingers through her sister’s hair and studying the way it catches the light. Cissy is hers to protect, even from a storm.
