Title: Rose Petals

Author: Evandar

Fandom: Yu-Gi-Oh!

Rating: PG-13

Warning: AU - War of the Roses, inspired by Duelist of the Roses, historical inaccuracies, off-screen character death, magical realism, anxiety, ominous flirting, courtly love

Pairing: Yami Bakura/Ghost Kotsuzuka

Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! and I am making no profit from this story.

Summary: He’s not sure what has happened to earn him an audience with the new King. He didn’t ask for one. He’d accepted his fate only to be dragged out of his cell, forcibly bathed, and then dragged into a room where the King seems to eclipse all other presences. Even the guards still holding his arms are barely noticeable in comparison.

Ghost is offered a chance to redeem himself following the War, and in the process, attracts the attention of one of the King's knights. Bakura is powerful, sinister, and completely terrifying - and yet Ghost has always adored unloveable things.

AN: This was written for the [community profile] ygorarepairs Mini Bang, which was a reverse bang this year. I was assigned to the incredibly talented MirPuzzle who was incredibly helpful and supportive throughout the entire process. Her art is gorgeous and can be found here at Bluesky - please send all of the praise!

Title: Intentions
Author: Evandar
Fandom: IT (2017)
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Horror
Pairing: Pennywise/Bill Denbrough
Warnings: Underage, Pre-slash, Dub-con
Disclaimer: I do not own IT and I am making no profit from this story.
Summary: He can still see Georgie in his mind’s eye: missing an arm and starting to rot, a sick puppet for the thing lurking in the water. But the illusion of his brother is gone now, and the clown doesn’t seem too interested in pursuing him. Not right now.

Actually, Pennywise seems to have different ideas entirely.

IT is just standing there, watching him... )

Title: Recovery
Author: Evandar
Fandom: The Hobbit
Rating: T
Genre: Hurt/Comfort, Romance
Pairing: Thranduil/Legolas
Warnings: Parent/child incest
Disclaimer: I do not own The Hobbit and I am making no profit from this story.
Summary: The drawing of the Shadow from Dol Guldur has been as the drawing of a slow and deadly poison from a wound, and it has left him weakened – though with the faint promise of strength to be regained.
AN: This was written entirely for my own ridiculous self-interests.

My King demands the best of me... )

Title: Redemption Retreat
Author: Evandar
Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: R
Genre: Horror/Psychological
Pairing: Rabastan Lestrange/Neville Longbottom - onesided
Warnings: Psychological Horror, Emotional/Psychological Abuse, Referenced Character Death, Memory Loss, Stream of Consciousness, Personality Erasure, Magical Trauma, Self Mutilation
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter and am making no profit from this story.
Summary: Redemption Retreat: A Last-chance Rehabilitation Centre for Criminal Minds was the alternative to a life-sentence in Azkaban after the Second War. It promised a final chance at peace and forgiveness through daily treatments and constructive activities. That's what the leaflets in the library said when Willow tried to read them, before the words started swimming on the page and the fog closed in and he forgot why he wanted to read them in the first place.
Author's Notes: Written for the 2017 [community profile] hp_darkarts Horror Fest.

Title: Said the Spider
Author: Evandar
Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Drama
Pairing: Gellert Grindelwald/Harry Potter
Warnings: Timetravel, Master of Death!Harry, Seer!Grindelwald, Manipulation
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter and am making no profit from this story.
Summary: Gellert is nothing like the horror that was Voldemort; Grindelwald is a symptom of the same social disease, but his is a slow and subtle kind of terror. He’s a spider at the centre of a web of futures, plucking at strings to see how the flies begin to panic in their binds. Harry thinks that he’s beautiful.
Author's Notes: Written for [personal profile] hprarefest. Thanks, as ever, go to S for agreeing to be my beta once more and for whipping this piece into shape – any remaining errors are entirely my own. Thanks also go to R for continuing her dedicated work as a sounding board and for reminding me that I’m still allowed to have fun.

evandar: (God of Mischief)
The long, long list of all the fic I wrote this year (minus a hundred drabbles or so) can be found here. This is not that list. This is the list of things that have, for various reasons, made my personal favourites list.

Harry Potter

Title: Drunk Love Baby
Rating: NC-17
Pairings/Warnings: Sirius/Harry (TW:Underage)
Summary: Harry wants Sirius to be happy, and he's willing to do anything to make him that way. Sirius is both a bad influence and an irresponsible adult, and Firewhiskey never stops things from getting out of hand.
Thoughts: I don't write a lot of smut, but this was pure porn that - surprisingly - just flowed from my fingers and onto the keyboard. Sirius/Harry is one of my favourite pairings, but before this year, it wasn't something I'd ever written, and this was the first thing I wrote for it.

Title: The Third Brother
Rating: NC-17
Pairings/Warnings: Ignotus Peverell/Albus Dumbledore, Harry/Ginny, Ignotus Peverell/Ginny (TW: Necrophilia, Possession, Character Death)
Summary: In which all fairy tales are warnings and The Tale of Three Brothers is no different, and the origin of the Hallows is much Darker than Harry realised. Something deathly hitched a ride when Harry returned from Kings Cross, and it’s far too late to stop it.
Thoughts: This is one of the only fics I've written that has genuinely freaked me the hell out. It's a horror story that actually worked for me, even if it turned out to be completely different from what I expected.

Title: Drowning
Rating: PG-13
Pairings/Warnings: Regulus/Barty (TW: Character Death)
Summary: He sits by the window and watches the rain, waiting for Regulus to come home. He’s not sure what he’ll do if he doesn’t.
Thoughts: OTP time! Seriously, though, this is one of the teeny-tiny rare-pairs of my heart, and this fic managed to incorporate so much of my headcanon for them.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

Title: Into the Blue
Rating: PG-13
Pairings/Warnings: Tony/Loki
Summary: Tony develops a fascination with Loki, one that’s half-fear and half-lust. His instincts of self-preservation must be leaving him, because the fear only makes him want Loki more.
Thoughts: This is included just because the style of writing surprises even me. Very, very pretty, but impossible to keep up for long periods of time.

Supernatural

Title: Flowers in the Impala
Rating: R
Pairings/Warnings: Dean/Sam (TW: Underage, Incest)
Summary: Kate wants them to be a family - really, she does - but there's something wrong with John's boys.
Thoughts: This was originally intended to be something else. Something multichaptered from Sam's POV. Instead it became as much an exploration of Kate as the boys, and I actually prefer it this way. The original was stilted; this, not so much.

Title: Mother of Angels
Rating: PG-13
Pairings/Warnings: Michael/Adam (TW: MPreg)
Summary: Adam wakes up one morning in Windom instead of the Cage. Life is good and his Mom is alive - it’s like nothing ever happened. Except, his stomach keeps cramping and he feels sick in the mornings, and Michael isn’t answering his (rather terrible) prayers. He’s alone, lost, and he thinks he might be pregnant. Clearly, a road trip is in order.
Thoughts: This was an absolute son of a bitch to write. Geography got in the way of my plot, for a start, so it ended up shorter than it should have been, I got bogged down with RL crap and had to race to the deadline...ugh. Just ugh. But despite - perhaps because of - all that, I'm really proud of it.

Tolkien

Title: Love in the Time of Dragons
Rating: NC-17
Pairings/Warnings: Nori/Dori (TW: Incest, Genderswap)
Summary: The recruitment of the Brothers Ri into the Company. They've done an excellent job of becoming each other's only weakness.
Thoughts: This was the first of two Big Bangs for The Hobbit this year, and the first decent long-shot I'd written in a while. It hasn't had much reception, being a small and unpopular pairing (sense a theme here?), but I love it all the same.

Title: Vampire
Rating: G
Pairings/Warnings: N/A
Summary: Bard is more than a boatman, but the Dwarves are safe for now.
Thoughts: It's impossible not to mention this one, given that it has spawned "the Hobbit/Dracula fusion the world didn't know it wanted". The ficlets for this verse are insanely fun to write, and I hope to continue them well into 2015.

Title: The Kings of the North
Rating: PG-13
Pairings/Warnings: Thranduil/Bard
Summary: The aftermath of the Battle of Five Armies: there is unease in the north, as old alliances must be rebuilt and leadership learned. Bard is confused, mostly by King Thranduil, and King Fili is determined to be the best king he can be. Sigrid, meanwhile, wishes things could go back to the way they were.
Thoughts: My last Big Bang of 2014 and the one that I had the most fun writing. This verse is still ongoing due to the sheer amount of fun I'm having exploring it.

Title: Painless
Rating: PG-13
Pairings/Warnings: Thranduil/Orcs, Legolas/Gimli (TW: References to Non-con)
Summary:After the Last Alliance, Thranduil found himself pregnant with the child of an Orc. As he struggles to raise Legolas alone and keep his heritage a secret, the line of Oropher begins to crumble under the pressure.
Thoughts: Another one that's impossible not to mention. This series is, essentially, one of the most heartbreakingly tragic things I've ever written to the point where it actually hurts to write. That said, I do have plans to finish it in 2015, so let's see how it goes.

Other

Title: Abydos
Rating: PG-13
Pairings/Warnings: Yami no Marik/Marik
Summary:Bill doesn't immediately like Egypt. It's a strange place, filled with strange people. Marik Ishtar is one of them.
Thoughts: This is very much a surprise addition to the pile. It was so difficult to write - these very much being characters that I'm not used to - and yet, it's something that I found intensely satisfying when it was done.

So that's the list. Anything that you think I left out?
evandar: (Itachi)
A list of my fic for the year 2014, minus about a hundred drabbles. Warning: long list is hellishly long.

This is what happens when you sign up to all the fests... )

I think I'll probably do a separate post to talk about my favourites and leave this one as a testament to a year-long writing spree that...in the end, is actually kind of impressive.
evandar: (Legolas)
That moment when you find out you've been recced on TV Tropes...

OMG *dies*
evandar: (Itachi)
Because it's apparently impossible to entirely avoid Shakespeare while studying English literature, I'm writing an essay on him. More specifically, on the Sonnets and how the ho-yay is really obvious if you look for it. Then again, the same can be said for every literary trope/theory/convention ever. If you look for it: it will be there. It has, basically, nothing to do with my thesis aside from the use of Queer Theory, but it's turned out really interesting as most of my research has gone into Renaissance views on homosexuality.

This, combined with the start of a new round at SmallFandomFest, has made me want to try my hand at writing Pocahontas fic.

There's no hope for me, is there.
evandar: (Itachi)
Oh dear, it's all catching up on me again... )
evandar: (Itachi)
Again with the finding it invaluable.

Still really long though... )
evandar: (Default)
Updating this solely because I find it invaluable. It seems to be both getting longer and shorter at the same time. Like, I cross one thing off and sign up for two more.

So here it is... )

Title: Meeting Hope
Author: Evandar
Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: G
Genre: Gen
Pairing: Remus/Sirius
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter and I am making no profit from this story.
Summary: Hope Lupin meets Sirius Black for the first time. He's not quite the boy she expected from her son's stories.
AN: This is a side-fic to an as-yet unwritten WIP, and it fills the 'Meet the Parents/Family' prompt on my [community profile] trope_bingo card.

Soot is apparently something that happens to other people... )

Title: Woodland Feast
Author: Evandar
Fandom: Lord of the Rings
Rating: G
Genre: Gen
Disclaimer: I do not own The Lord of the Rings and I am making no profit from this story.
Summary: Legolas' snacking on the road draws the attention of the rest of the Fellowship.
AN: Another exploration of some headcanon discussed on this meme post which I'm using to fill the 'Spiders' prompt on my [community profile] genprompt_bingo table.

I don't think you would like it... )
evandar: (Mask)
Title: Forgiven
Author: Evandar
Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: PG
Genre: Romance
Pairing: Harry/Ron
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter and I am making no profit from this story.
Summary: Ron's his best friend, so of course he can forgive him for the Goblet Incident.
AN: Written for this prompt on [community profile] fic_promptly.

There was a part of him that still wanted to strangle Ron... )
evandar: (Directions)
*stretches* Hobbit Big Bang can now be officially ticked off the list. It needs editing (like woooooooooah) but it's over the word count, at least, and complete.

Now it's a case of giving the rest of my to-do list the side eye and knuckling down to the HP Horror Fest that - while I at least have an idea of what to do for it - so far remains completely untouched. This is bad. (Deadline in five days, must be complete and edited by then, and oh look! Tonsillitis!) This whole fest thing I've got going at the moment is becoming a slight problem.

But yay! The Big Bang is all banged out! XD

And on a completely different note, I told people I was numerate on a job application today. I can barely count to ten when stressed... Yeah, I don't think I'll be getting that one, somehow.
evandar: (Company of Wolves)
Ah, that wonderful moment when suddenly - bam! - you're halfway to completing a Big Bang and you finally know that it's all going to be okay.

Not that, with a 1st April deadline, I haven't left it to the last minute or anything... Me? Do that? Nooooooooooooo ~
