Thank you! I felt kind of sorry for him while writing it too, so he inherited my 'grief-makes-you-pathologically-organised' thing.
I'm sort of combining the book and movie verses, not that you can really tell. Erestor is in Mithlond doing some sort of errand, and Lindir has taken over while he's away. Erestor left in the summer, but is now quite thoroughly stuck there because of the weather, and Lindir will have to wait until spring to go back to minstrelling.
I have to sneak Glofindel in while writing about Rivendell. I think in Tolkien's version, Elrond would have remained in Rivendell and offered ring-based/spiritual help rather than going himself. Even though he fought in wars in the past, I was rather under the impression that the violence interfered with his healing magic. As this was more movie!based, he went, but didn't want to leave the Valley unprotected...and if anyone's going to be a temporary ring-bearer, then why not Glorfindel?
