Challenge #10: Big Mood (Board)

CHOOSE SOMETHING YOU LOVE AND CREATE A MINI MOOD COLLECTION OF THREE (or more) ITEMS THAT EVOKE YOUR FEELINGS ABOUT IT. You don’t have to limit yourself to visual media, or collect the items into a special format like a square (though you can if you’d like).

I've already mentioned in this year's Snowflake Challenge that I create playlists for pairings/fandoms, so I'm going to share one of those. Like I've said before, listening to playlists like this helps me to write. They also help me to stay within a particular fandom vibe whenever I'm not actively writing fanfic as well as help process fic ideas. So.

These are not things I usually share. Argh.

Bill/Pennywise - IT (Muschietti Movies)

Hazard - Richard Marx

We used to walk down by the river,
She loved to watch the sun go down.
We used to walk along the river
And dream our way out of this town.

Despite the fact that it's set in Nebraska, this song gives me very strong Derry vibes (as does the music video, tbh) so I use it as a scene/vibe-setting track.

Killing Fields - Shinedown

Welcome to the killing fields.
I don't even think you're real
But I know I'm not out here all alone.

and

Last call in the house of mirrors
Before the curtains close.
It's just the two of us and no one else
When I see you, I see myself.

This is one of my growing codependency songs for this pairing because of the references to mirror images and seeing yourself in another person who happens to bring out the worst in you.

Black & Gold - Sam Sparro

'Cause if you're not really here
Then the stars don't even matter.
Now I'm filled to the top with fear
That it's all just a bunch of matter.
'Cause if you're not really here
Then I don't wanna be either.

A song about love as an existential crisis is about as good as you can get for a shipping track when one of your characters is an eldritch abomination from beyond the stars, I guess.

Beyond the Stars - Evans Blue

I'm the guilty, all the feelings
come crashing down on me.
I'm taking you with me!

This song is very much on the "Bill feeling guilty over Georgie and the self-destructive nature of any potential relationship he would have with Pennywise" side of the spectrum.

Meet me in the Woods - Lord Huron

There ain't language for the things I've see, yeah
And the truth is stranger than my own worst dreams.
The truth is stranger than in all my dreams.
Holy darkness got a hold on me.
I have seen what the darkness does
(Say goodbye to who I was).

This song is very much on the other end of how this pairing can be written, with darkness corrupting and fundamentally changing who a person is, and it's essentially the anthem for my Bill/Pennywise series.

Endlessness - Nightwish

I am the grass, the maggots and the dust.
I am the several endings,
The pain fo the slow evil of an unsung life.

and

Follow me, I am the spark
At the end of everything.
Tip the reaper to ensure
The blade is sharp
As soon we'll go.
Follow me into the dark
To the birth of everything.

This is more of a Pennywise character song than a pairing song, but it's on this playlist anyway because of how it talks about embracing the inevitability of death.

That isn't the whole playlist. Some of the songs that I've left out are there for "inexplicable vibes" reasons; some are there because I listened to them while obsessing over the fandom and accidentally assigned them to a character and now can't separate them.
