Summary: Werewolves have very different instincts to wizards when it comes to sickness.
AN: Many, many thanks to my sister Rachel who - as a dog owner - answered my questions over lunch today yeah, brilliant timing, I know. This was written for [community profile] bloodyvalentine's prompt of Werewolf characters (AU if necessary) suffer poisoning and throw up like dogs do, prolonged noisy retching and/or curiosity in the vomit once they're done.

He coughed and retched again and shook his head before resuming his pacing. He padded lightly on bare feet, in circles around the dorm. He’d begged off the Hogsmeade weekend by claiming illness and, well, he hadn’t been wrong. Snape hadn't really been all that subtle in his actions since he'd discovered Remus' secret.

He’d have to clean up later, but for now, while he was alone, he could act as his instincts dictated. He could circle and cough when his friend would have hurried him down to the infirmary to be confined in a bed under Madame Pomfrey’s watchful eye; he could sniff at the pools of vomit he’d left in his wake, his instincts telling him that they were food – that they were a necessary source of food and no different now than they had been when he’d first eaten them. If it wasn't for the faint scent of aconite and his lingering queasiness he might have already tried some.

He felt nausea churn in his belly and dropped to his knees, leaning forward and balancing his weight on his hands. He hacked and barked and closed his eyes as his stomach emptied itself once again. When he was done, he flopped down, panting and breathed in the scent of his stomach acid and the remains of an earlier bacon sandwich. He trailed a finger idly through the warm mess and sniffed it curiously.

Definitely aconite. He huffed and shifted into a more comfortable position; cleaning could wait until after the nausea faded.
