“And what, exactly, is your problem Granger?”
Parvati enters the dorm to the sound of Lavender’s raised voice. Her girlfriend is standing in the middle of the room, her hands planted on her hips, and her face set in a scowl. Granger is mirroring her, her face scarlet and her hair seeming to frizz with rage.
“It’s not appropriate behaviour,” Granger says. “The younger years –“
“Have you lectured Ginny Weasley yet?” Lavender asked.
“What?”
“Have you lectured her too? Or is it just me because I’m dating a girl? She was practically riding Dean in the Common Room last night. Well, Miss Prefect?”
Granger stammers and her blush darkens and Parvati closes the door behind her with a snap, entering the room properly to stand at Lavender’s back.
“It’s not like that,” Granger whispers, looking between them both.
“Is it not?” Parvati asks. They all know it is: Weasley won’t even get a slap on the wrist, while they have to ‘tone it down’ for all that they do less in public than most couples.
“Liar,” Lavender taunts, and from the corner of her eye, Parvati can see the smile on her lips. “You’re such a bad liar, Granger.”
