She weaves satin ribbons into her sister’s hair; green entwined with pale gold curls. Mama wants Cissa to catch the eye of the Malfoy heir tonight. It’ll be easy: she’s already caught her sister’s.

Bellatrix slides a ribbon through her fingers, then slips it around the pale column of Cissa’s neck, holding it tight across her tender skin, but not tight enough to leave a mark. She always keeps her marks to places where they’ll be hidden – places like Cissa’s thighs, her belly, and the undersides of her small breasts.

“Remember, sister,” she says. “No matter what, you’re always mine.”
