She spots her on the platform. She’s not looking for her; rather, she’s looking away from her sisters’ farewells to their parents when she sees a flash of red hair and a slender figure in a white dress patterned with green diamonds. She’s so eager, even as she says her goodbyes to her – Bella sniffs in disapproval – obviously Muggle family, and Bella can’t look away. The girl should be plain as dishwater with her filthy blood, but instead she’s radiant in her beauty.

Bella watches her as she boards the train, and is rewarded with the glimpse of a smile.
