She keeps a box tucked in the back of her dresser. It’s locked, kept under notice-me-not charms to hide it from the prying eyes of her husband and child, and she rarely looks at it herself. But there are times when the walls of Malfoy Manor seem to close in around her – though it’s larger and airier than the house she grew up in, she can’t help but long for dark rooms and the magic of her kin.
The box holds a wand. Walnut and dragon heartstring with a noticeable crook in the middle. Bella’s wand, reclaimed from the DMLE in exchange for a small donation. She takes it out when the world closes in and she holds it to her chest nestled like a child between her breasts, and seeks comfort in the thrum of its power against her skin. It’s all she has left of her sister except her memories.
