The ring isn’t as big or bold as she’s been expecting ever since the law changed. She’s been expecting something more…Elle. More vibrant than the sleek solitaire sapphire she’s presented with, its platinum band shimmering against the black velvet of its presentation box. Tiffany’s, of course, because Elle would never buy from anywhere else.

It’s the second time she’s been proposed to, and it’s far more relaxed than the first. They’re in their favourite restaurant when Elle slides the box over the table. There’s no cold, nervous knot in the pit of Vivian’s stomach when she says yes; just a bright, vibrant smile.
