Challenge #7
In your own space, create a list of at least three things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a wishlist of sorts. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your wishlist if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.
1. Fanart for any of my fics.
2. Icons for any of my fandoms, but especially IT - Muschietti Movies, Yu Gi Oh! Duel Monsters, Yu Yu Hakusho and the Tolkien-verse.
3. Recs for fic in any of the above fandoms as well as SVSSS, TGCF and MDZS.
4. Recs for movies or anime to watch. I have Vietnamese Netflix and Apple TV here (no Prime, Amazon doesn't recognise Vietnam as a place and thinks I'm in Taiwan). I love horror, detective series, and the occasional plotless fluff.

Date: 2025-01-13 09:00 pm (UTC)From:It's a TV series, but Lovecraft Country is brilliant horror with black heroes and a lot of white racists getting eaten by monsters. Also involves trying to figure out what is going on, for your detective side. :D Not sure if you can get it but it's well worth watching for.

Date: 2025-01-15 05:52 am (UTC)From:Very much the same in the show! I loved how much black history and culture appeared in there. It's just a basket of eastereggs. :D
>> It's an interesting juxtaposition when you have indescribable extraterrestrial god-monsters who are legit a more comfortable presence than half the human characters.<<
Yeah, that's the kind of thing that got me kicked out of a lot of history classes. But I learned more history that way.
It made me think that "the black guy dies first" is pure racism. I mean, come on, they need more survival skills than white guys just to survive the white guys! You can really see it in how the black heroes respond to both white and Mythos monsters. They are alert, they are prepared, they are always ready to haul ass if necessary. Even when they're pushing the boundaries.
Plus of course, it's hilarious to put black heroes in the Mythos because some of the founding authors were on the racist side.

The Untamed | 47,522 words | PG-13 | Lan Zhan/Wei Ying
Summary: Thirteen years ago, Wei Wuxian brought scandal and shame down upon his head and was thrown out of the competitive ballroom dance circuit. He vanished, never to be heard from again.
Lan Wangji aches when he remembers the way Wei Ying danced--like a laugh given movement and form. He has never stopped searching for him.
Starstruck by
The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System | 19,844 words | NC-17 | Luò Bīnghé/Shěn Yuán;Shěn Qīngqiū
Summary: His phone buzzes again and Shen Yuan scoops it up irritably. It’s another message from DemonHeart.
DemonHeart: you seem to be a Luo Binghe fan
DemonHeart: we can get you access to him
Shen Yuan scowls.
PeerlessCucumber: do I look like I was born yesterday?
The response is instantaneous. A picture pops up on screen. Shen Yuan vaguely recognizes the woman that plays the drums, still in full stage makeup. Next to her, arm slung around her waist, is a face Shen Yuan would know anywhere. Luo Binghe, giving a wry smile to the camera.
DemonHeart: he’s a fan, you know
PeerlessCucumber: where exactly would we be meeting
Marry for Love by
The Untamed | 3,025 | PG-13 | Jiang Yanli/Nie Huaisang
Summary: Nie Huaisang snapped open his fan and covered his face. "Be careful. I'll take advantage."
Discordant Rhapsody by
The Untamed | 49,448 words| PG-13 | Lan Qiren & Wei Wuxian
“Become my personal disciple,” Lan Qiren said to Wei Wuxian, feeling the weight of what he said on his tongue, the bitter taste of it mixing in with the ash of the Burial Mounds. “And as your shifu, I will bear the shame of your actions for you.”
best friends forever by
The Untamed | 16,736 | PG-13 | Jin Ling/Lan Jingyi
Summary: It happened like this: Jin Ling was a sect leader now, which was, and Jingyi really meant this, fucking hilarious. There were few things funnier, in his honest opinion.
Because he was young, and inexperienced, and also — it had to be said — a real shithead, there was apparently some belief amongst his advisors that the best way forward, to promote the picture of a stable, mature sect leader who absolutely did not cry at the drop of a hat, was for Jin Ling to get married.
OR: Jin Ling and Jingyi get engaged.

The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System/Star Trek | 15,348 words | NC-17 | Luò Bīnghé/Shěn Yuán;Shěn Qīngqiū
Summary: Before he rose to captaincy, Shen Yuan attended a briefing given to all command level officers in Star Fleet that outlined the scope of the Q threat. According to Admiral Picard's report, the omnipotent Q are devious, amoral, unreliable, irresponsible and definitely not to be trusted
Orphaned stowaway Luo Binghe doesn't even know he is one.

Date: 2025-01-22 12:47 am (UTC)From:I'm sure if you've read a bunch, you've found these, but they're my favorite rereads:
- in the blossom season (in the pouring rain) by varnes. (Modern Wangxian AU with some really strong, tight writing, excellent imagery, nonlinear storytelling, and a theme that supports the structure. Just. Really good.)
- The One-Body Problem by metisket (Jingyi gets possessed by WWX, and this is just, funny with some really good angst, character analysis, and the perfect Jingyi voice.)
- What Is Left Over by Loriqod. (Post-canon WWX rebuilding his golden core + reconciliations + lovely sword details.)
- puzzle pieces by Yuisaki. (Hilarious pining wangxian fluff, modern era.)
- 爱不释手; never let me go by yiqie. (Wangxian. Really good prose and character interactions, plus a great ending.)
- Try Again by PrinceJakeFireCake (Bingge time-travel fixits himself. Low-conflict, with the end being mostly fluff. A very pleasant read.)
- Rachel for Leah by x_los (Bingge+SY nonsense, but very funny. I rec x_los in general as good for crack treated seriously, but reader discretion advised.)
- pride is not the word I'm looking for by Tossawary. (A *very* long longfic, SQH-centric. I enjoy everything by Tossawary, but this one I've read at least twice. SQH doesn't squander his chance at fixing his own book.)
- Digging for Orchids by betts (A modern TGCF Hua Cheng/Xie Lian that is both delightful and funny.)
- + anything by ShanaStoryteller, but these two in particular:
- By Any Other Name (WWX genderfluids his way through the plot, LWJ has a pining crisis, and there is some fantastic BAMFery.)
- Lynchpin. (A time-travel fixit with JC.)
If you have any more specific preferences, I might have something bookmarked...Re: Some MXTX recs...
