Fandom Snowflake

So, part of 2016's overwhelming shittiness led to me losing a lot of confidence in fandom. It's not right and it's not fair - there are a huge number of wonderful, supportive, active, and creative people that I know through DW and LJ that I admire deeply, and fannishness is such a huge part of my identity that...it hurt. Being harrassed by some members of fandom on a site that will go unmentioned hurt a lot. Dropping out of fests - including Yuletide - is fucking horrible and I hated doing it, but...I couldn't. I really just couldn't.

I don't want to angst too hard on here because ugh. But yeah, that basically sums up my motivation for participating in snowflake_challenge. There's a hell of a lot of stuff going on in RL that I can't cope with and that needs changing, but I'm taking this as an opportunity to claim a little bit of my fan-identity back for myself.

With LJ's servers being in Russia, I've seen a lot of people importing their stuff onto DW in the last few days. I've done the same, mostly to have a back-up of fics and comments just in case something does happen, and will now be crossposting fics to both sites. DW will remain a personal journal as well (my LJ is just for fic), so if you're new here then please don't be surprised by the occasional ramble.
