Enough was enough. She was sick of Lavender’s misery: the bags that shadowed her eyes and the sullen cast to her mouth and especially the heavy, bitter atmosphere that hung over their dorm. Ronald Weasley was far from worth this.
It was time for something new. What, exactly, Parvati wasn’t sure, but she’d do anything to put a smile back onto Lavender’s face. Lavender deserved happiness and Parvati wanted to be the one to give her that. Lavender was beautiful when she was happy.
She put her hands on her hips and stood at the end of her best friend’s bed. “Up!” she demanded.
Lavender peered up at her from under a lank curtain of hair. Parvati gave her a fierce scowl and yanked on Lavender’s blanket, dragging it down to reveal a creamy shoulder and the pink strap of her pyjama top. Lavender smiled faintly.
It was a start.
