“So, uh, you hired me to help,” she says, and Miss Potts looks up at her with an inscrutable expression. She’s thin and immaculate, all wrapped up in a suit that costs more than Darcy’s apartment, and her mouth is a scarlet slash in her pale face.

Darcy rounds the corner of the desk and drops to her knees at Miss Potts’ feet, smoothing her skirt reflexively and licking her lips. She looks up at her boss, spies the faint blush in her cheeks, and smiles.

“So let me help,” she says, and brushes her fingers against Miss Potts’ ankle.
