She doesn’t believe in destiny. She helped avert it once, after all, though her memories skirt away from the exact truth. She remembers a stick in her hands becoming more, fire and red and a smile so beautiful it could kill.
So she doesn’t believe in it, but it still feels like fate when a red-haired, red-clad woman drops into the bar stool next to her in a Colombian cantina and the voices from a table in the corner rise to drown out her order of a marguerite.
“And one for my friend,” War says, indicating Pepper with a smile.
